OBCF 101-12- What age ranges does the OBCF help?

In an effort to better connect with our community and educate people about all of the unique facets of the Community Foundation, we have created OBCF 101.

Last week in OBCF 101-11, we talked about the best ways for someone 18-30 years old to get involved with OBCF. So, for OBCF 101-12 we are expanding to talk about what age ranges the Outer Banks Community Foundation helps.

And, that answer is pretty simple…. OBCF helps all ages!!

Below are a few examples of how OBCF helps different age demographics in our community:

  • For the littles, OBCF supports local nonprofits like Children & Youth Partnership (CYP) for Dare County with grants. CYP connects kids and their families with resources to help them thrive. They provide a local diaper bank, support for young families through workshops and community connections, and they even have a “Play & Learn Library” at their location in Manteo that is free to use Monday-Thursday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
  • For school-age children, OBCF works with local nonprofit Dare Education Foundation to provide grants that help support teachers and students in Dare County Schools. OBCF also provides grants to numerous other nonprofits that support school age children, whether it’s helping ensure better healthcare for them, ensuring that they have access to nutritional food, or enriching their life through artistic and/or recreational opportunities.
  • For high school seniors, OBCF has over 80 different scholarships to help support their college education dreams. The scholarship application portal will open on January 9, 2026.
  • For young adults, OBCF offers scholarships that can assist with furthering their education and learning new skills. And, OBCF also offers many volunteer and learning opportunities for young adults wanting to be involved with the local nonprofit community.
  • For older adults, OBCF offers many options to create a lasting philanthropic legacy, and OBCF can connect you with trusted professional advisors to help with your planned giving.

There are many other ways that OBCF helps the different age demographics on the Outer Banks, and we work hard to stay connected with all of them.

Stay tuned for our next OBCF 101!
