Sights & Sounds: WEVS Evans Building tour and grand opening highlights
The Corolla Education Foundation, which operates Water’s Edge Village School, celebrated the grand opening of the Wayne and Betty Evans Building at the K-8 charter school on Friday, July 11, 2025.
A $300,000 grant from the Evans Family Fund, the largest single award ever made through the Outer Banks Community Foundation, was part of a $2.4 million capital campaign to fund construction of the 4,000 square foot schoolhouse.
The Evans Building is located between the historic Corolla Schoolhouse and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse on a parcel donated by the Twiddy family, and features three classrooms, a community room, breakout room, decks for outdoor learning, a teacher workspace, and an administrative office.
