Greetings from your Outer Banks Community Foundation!

This year, we did a lot of listening. As our new leadership team came together, we spoke with donors, civic leaders, nonprofits, and a wide variety of other community stakeholders to make sure your Community Foundation is aligned with your values. We listened to dozens of suggestions of how we can better address the ever-changing challenges we face on the Outer Banks.

This is what we did not hear: Do less, provide fewer resources, make a smaller impact.

At every turn, our family of supporters let us know that they want us to be more engaged, amplify our impact, provide more resources, and in turn, help solve more of the problems confronting our community. We hear you, we agree with you, and it is our intention to do just that.

That’s why we are inviting you to please make a meaningful gift now to the Community Fund, our largest grant-making fund, which supports key projects of scores of Outer Banks charities. More than that, the Community Fund helps support our operations, allowing us to do all that we do—from grants that help those in need, to scholarships, to disaster relief, and most recently, to COVID Rapid Response grants. Simply put, your gift to the Community Fund will help us do more—now and into the future.

Thanks to strong past leadership and an outpouring of community support, your Community Foundation has grown as the Outer Banks has grown. In fact, we’ve awarded more than $11 million in grants and scholarships to date. As we approach 2022, our 40th year of service, we are more committed than ever to making a difference for those in need.

Thank you for all you have done through your Community Foundation in the past. With your continued support, we can do even more. As always, we welcome all contributions, whether you choose to earmark a gift to your favorite fund, or help build the Community Fund with an undesignated gift.

Please visit www.obcf.org/donate to give online, send a check to us at 13 Skyline Road, Southern Shores,  drop by with your gift, or call us for more complex gifts. Together, we can create a healthier, happier, more resilient Outer Banks.

With sincere gratitude,
