OBCF 101-8 – How Everyone Can Support Our Local Nonprofits
In an effort to better connect with our community and educate people about all of the unique facets of the Community Foundation, we have created OBCF 101.
Last week we talked about how OBCF can help your nonprofit, and this week for OBCF 101-8 we are taking it one step further to explain how everyone can support our local nonprofits through their endowment funds.
First, let’s define an endowment fund. An endowment fund is a permanent investment fund, where the original gift is invested to generate income, but the principal is preserved to support the organization indefinitely. The investment earnings, known as the total return, are then used to fund operations, scholarships, or other specified purposes outlined by the donor or the organization’s board. This structure provides ongoing, sustainable financial support for nonprofits.
Whether you are passionate about animals, education, preserving history, the arts, or addressing hunger in our community, we have over 30 endowment funds for local nonprofits that you can donate to, which are listed below.
