OBCF 101-11- What’s the best way for someone 18-30 years old to get involved with OBCF?

In an effort to better connect with our community and educate people about all of the unique facets of the Community Foundation, we have created OBCF 101.

We are constantly striving to reach all ages on the Outer Banks. If you are 18-30 years old, OBCF 101-11 is for you!

Below we have listed 10 ways for people who are 18-30 years old to get involved with OBCF.

1. Join one of our committees as a volunteer community member! We value your input.

2. Volunteer your time. There are so many amazing nonprofit groups on the Outer Banks that are looking for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, but aren’t sure how to get started, reach out to us.

3. Follow us on social media and learn more about the work we are doing. You can follow us on Facebook here, Instagram here, or LinkedIn here. Make sure to like and share our posts too please, and help raise awareness about OBCF.

4. Apply for a scholarship! We have non-traditional scholarships that are tailored for young adults looking to pursue trade school or to continue their college journey.

5. Attend our Annual Meeting and learn about what we do and help us celebrate our community. Our next Annual Meeting will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Mark the calendar!

6. Donate to one of your favorite causes or organizations. We have hundreds of funds that you can donate to and every single dollar makes a difference. You can donate online here: OBCF.org/donate.

7. Start a community project for something you are passionate about, and then apply for a grant to support it (if applicable).

8. Sign up for our monthly e-newsletter! You can sign up here: https://obcf.org/news-updates/e-newsletter/.

9. Work with your parents and/or grandparents to plan ahead and create a lasting philanthropic legacy for your family through the Community Foundation.

10. Give us feedback! We are always looking for ways to improve the Community Foundation, and we would love to hear from you. Email us at info@obcf.org.

Thankfully, there are many ways to get involved with the Outer Banks Community Foundation, and we hope you will pick one or two of these options.

If you have questions or would like more information about any of the ways to get involved that we listed above, please give us a call at 252-423-3003.
