Cape Hatteras Secondary School 2026 Scholarship Recipients

Eight Cape Hatteras Secondary School seniors will start college next fall with financial assistance from Outer Banks
Community Foundation funds established by local donors and organizations. Many scholarships will follow these
students through all four years of school, as long as they complete the renewability requirements.
Fourteen 2026 scholarship awards for these students total $33,900. Eight of the fourteen scholarships are
renewable, making a potential additional commitment of $54,000 to these students over the next four years.
2026 Cape Hatteras Secondary School Scholarship Recipients are:
- Owen Austin received the Charles H. & Dorothy S. Luedemann Art Scholarship
- Alaina Bonanni received the Dare Education Foundation Scholarship Program: Cape Hatteras Secondary
School, the Outer Banks Association of Realtors scholarship, and the Teddy and Savory Garrett Veterinary
Medicine Scholarship - Karina De La O Caldera received the Karen Willis Memorial Scholarship and the Wallace H. McCown
Scholarship - Porter Hall received the Dare County Association of Fire Officers Scholarship in Memory of Douglas A.
Remaley and the Scott Day Family Scholarship - Estrella Olan-Campos received the Inez Daniels Austin Scholarship
- Mackenzy O’Neal received the Frank M. Cahoon Memorial Scholarship
- Samanth Schena received the Bill Jones Memorial Scholarship, the Love of Learning Scholarship, and the
Outer Banks Association of Realtors Scholarship - Reece Zombro received the R. Stewart Couch Hatteras Island Scholarship
The awards were presented at Cape Hatteras Secondary School Awards Night on May 19, 2026. Congratulations to
