Special Thanks from 2022 OBX Scholars Program awardee Isabella Lettieri
The OBX Scholars Fund was established in 2016 to provide scholarships to Dare County and Ocracoke students of all backgrounds, interests, and academic goals to attend the college of their dreams. The fund has grown and now offers renewable scholarships to four-year schools, renewable scholarships to College of The Albemarle graduates for their final two years of school, and a one-time award given to a student attendee at Dare County’s annual After Prom program.
Here is what Isabella Lettieri, a dual-enrolled 2022 Cape Hatteras Secondary School and College of the Albemarle graduate and OBX Scholars recipient had to say about what this scholarship has meant to her:
“As the OBX Scholar/COA Scholarship recipient, I feel that I have gained so much from my dual enrollment. Not only have I knocked two years off of my four-year degree, but I was also able to learn study skills, interact with professors and truly embrace a college education. College of The Albemarle was a wonderful start! I will never forget the classes, people, and skills that I learned from there. Dare County offers its students more than we could ever ask for. We are lucky to belong to such a great community. The Outer Banks Community Foundation takes that a step further by truly giving so many students the financial support and confirmation that they can do it! I listened and watched with great pride as so many of my classmates and fellow graduates received life-changing awards from the Foundation. I can never thank you enough for this scholarship and I will work every day to make sure that I put it to good use. Thank you so much for picking me to receive this scholarship. I truly appreciate your support in the continuation of my education.”
Isabella is currently in her junior year at Salem College in Winston-Salem.
