Cape Hatteras Secondary School 2024 Scholarship Recipients

Six Cape Hatteras Secondary School seniors will start college next fall with financial assistance from Outer Banks Community Foundation funds established by local donors and organizations. Many scholarships will follow these students through all four years of school, as long as they complete the renewability requirements.

Nine 2024 scholarship awards for these students total $25,600. Four of the nine scholarships are renewable, making a potential additional commitment of $30,000 to these students over the next four years.

2024 Cape Hatteras Secondary School Scholarship Recipients are:

  • Alyssa Bryan received the Lillian W. Riddick Scholarship Fund for Nurses
  • Austin Jones received the R. Stewart Couch Hatteras Island Scholarship
  • Taylor Mabry received the Frank M. Cahoon Memorial Scholarship
  • Sherlyn  Mendieta-Lozano received the Josephine A. Oden Scholarship and the Outer Banks Association of Realtors Scholarship
  • Abby O’Neal received the Inez Daniels Austin Scholarship and the Scott Day Family Scholarship
  • Grace Vernesoni received the OBX Scholars and the Wallace H. McCown Scholarship

The awards were presented at the Senior Celebration Scholarship Banquet at the Hatteras Civic Center on May 21, 2024. Congratulations to these students! Thank you, scholarship fund establishers and contributors, for supporting these students in their quests for college educations.
