Make Your Mark and say “Thanks, Outer Banks”
What are the critical issues confronting our community that you are most passionate about?
Do you care about the health and wellbeing of our community? Do you love the arts? Seeing young people succeed? Protecting the environment? From helping others to higher education, there are a variety of ways to make your mark and give something back to your Outer Banks for future generations. It’s how many of us choose to say “Thanks, Outer Banks,” for a lifetime of memories and happiness.
Hundreds of people from all backgrounds and walks of life have entrusted the Community Foundation with their charitable legacies, and the ways they choose to support local causes are as distinct and as special as they are. Funds established by local donors help in ways that matter most to them and include history and culture, education, open spaces and wild places, creatures great and small, and people, from our youngest children to our oldest adults.
There are several ways to make a planned gift to the community through your Community Foundation. Some of the most popular giving vehicles have income tax and other advantages:
- Individual Retirement Account (IRA) Qualified Charitable Distributions
- Gifts of Appreciated Stock
- Bequest
- Beneficiary Designation of Life Insurance and Retirement Plan
- Life income gifts such as Charitable Gift Annuity and Charitable Remainder Trust
Tax-advantaged giving will help you save on taxes while providing more for your loved ones and the charities you care most about. The important thing is to get started today. We encourage you to share your plans with your attorney, accountant, or other professional advisor, and contact us to discuss further.
