At its recent David Stick Legacy Society Lunch event, the Outer Banks Community Foundation announced the recipients of its fourth quarter grant awards, shining a spotlight on the innovative Sound Minds program by Interfaith Community Outreach (ICO). In collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Outer Banks Relief Foundation (OBRF), Sound Minds aims to increase resources for better mental health support in the community.
Driven by the tragic loss of their daughter to addiction, an Outer Banks couple has established a beacon of hope for families facing the same darkness. The Christina Nicole Jones Memorial Fund for Substance Abuse Education, Counseling, Prevention, and Treatment will provide funding for agencies addressing the needs of families facing addiction.
A scholarship fund has been established in memory of Mary Anne McKay at the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
