First Flight High School 2024 Scholarship Recipients

Fifteen First Flight High School seniors will start college next fall with financial assistance from Outer Banks Community Foundation funds established by local donors and organizations. Many scholarships will follow these students through all four years of school, as long as they complete the renewability requirements.

Nineteen 2024 scholarship awards for these students total $47,400. Ten of the fifteen scholarships are renewable, making a potential additional commitment of $100,200 to these students over the next four years.

2024 First Flight High School Scholarship Recipients are:
  • Curren Breiholz received the Robert E. Rollason, Jr. Memorial Scholarship.
  • Zane Hughes received the inaugural Smith-Cooper Scholarship.
  • Carolyn James and Grace Rusk received the Dare County Association of Fire Officers Scholarship in Memory of Douglas A. Remaley.
  • Alayna Jester received the Elizabeth and Wayne Evans Scholarship.
  • Savannah Lawton received the Osborne Scholarship.
  • Kellen Morris received the George W. Neighbors Memorial Scholarship.
  • Lucy Stecher received the Wallace H. McCown Scholarship and the Rex Sample Fund for Courage and Determination Scholarship.
  • Campbell Summerton received the Duck Woods Ladies Golf Founders Scholarship.
  • Isabella Thorn, Anna Tynch, and Ava Nultemeier received Outer Banks Association of Realtors Scholarships.
  • Isabella Thorn also received the Bill Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund and the inaugural Karen Willis Memorial Scholarship.
  • Samantha Vargas-Aparicio received the Gayle Grinstead Memorial Scholarship and the Jerry & Arlene Davis Scholarship.
  • Josephine Voight received the OBX Scholars Scholarship.
  • Brandon Woods received the inaugural Teddy and Savory Garrett Veterinary Medicine Scholarship.
